If there's a Dem in the top 2 that Dem will likely get almost all the votes from the rest of the Dem pool. The Republican will do the same and the Dem will win something like 58 to 40 percent.
I don't trust Steyer, billionaire, the prisons thing, the coal thing, but I was impressed when Khanna endorsed him and several big unions have too. So if he's the leading poller I will vote for him
