We are at the logical dead end of our current single district - winner takes all system. It has always been inherently undemocratic. Instead of scrambling to see how we can put another band aid on a gushing wound, we need to start uttering the words "proportional representation".
I think this move finally seals the deal on any or tense we had about being a democracy.
