Gotta hand it to Cal students for ESPN Game Day. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd was unreal. The signs were hilarious. They leaned into Foxnews leftwing stereotypes with self-deprecating humor. California lives in the heads of red state ghouls rent free. I am sure the hate has only intensified after yesterday and I am here for it.
UCLA gets almost as much hate that Cal gets if not more especially in light of the Gaza protests. Yet, our students are smart and witty with stellar futures ahead. Smart people embrace self-deprecating humor. Dumb idiots' idea of humor is always punching down (racism, sexism, Islamophobia, etc.). Go Bruins. Go Bears. Go Banana Slugs. Go Ant Eaters. So keep doing what you are doing. Stay woke.
