...lines people got MUCH better after the advent of Hawkeye.

The officials learned the repetitive perceptual errors they were making. The most common mistake was calling balls out that were consistently on the line. The human eye sees the front half of the ball beyond the line, and the mind called it "out". But the rule is, if ANY part of the ball touches the line/intersection, then the ball is 100% IN.

Refs had to adjust their perceptions. And they did. But COVID and continued technology advancements allowed tennis to move to a 100% tech call sport. So far, so good. (Until the system glitches on a critical point of a Grand Slam and the chair umpire is left hung out to dry.)
