Aside from all the conflicting statements from Trump, there is also the matter of twice the US initiating bombing without notice in the middle of negotiations. This is just like Pearl Harbor, except we are the Japanese, using negotiating to hide a surprise attack.

Then there is the previous agreement. The US and Iran made a deal and Trump cancelled it. Why should they expect him to keep a new one?

The US is an untrustworthy negotiating partner.
