"are unalienable rights proclaimed in the US Declaration of Independence (1776), asserting that all people are endowed with fundamental rights that governments are created to protect. Primarily drafted by Thomas Jefferson, this phrase highlights the core American principles of individual freedom, equality, and the opportunity for personal fulfillment."
We've never lived up to that and probably never will. Segregation, bias and discrimination will continue to exist as long as people do.
That said, the Democrats need to pound on the economic issues, which affect most of us. The cost of living, the price of housing, the need to better educate our young so that they have the potential to climb up the economic ladder.
And the electorate needs to understand that in our form of government they are sovereign; they by their votes elect those who they want to manage the country on their behalf. And that government is their Uncle and not their Mommy or Daddy.
