until the Salt Lake City Olympics. I knew about the Summer Olympics ever sine I was little. We were living in a Korean community in Tokyo in 1972. Adults were watching a volleyball match up between the US and Japan. They were all rooting HARD for the US. That tells you about the Japan/Korea relations. In 1976,a Korean wrestler won the first gold medal. That was huge. But throughout all that, I guess I never heard a peap about the Winter Olympics.
