You're missing the actual wage growth.
It turns out if you deport tons of people who make low wages, at the same time 21 states increase the minimum wage, AGAINST what Trump wants, the result is the average overall salary and average median salary go UP. If you remove the lowest salaries the average goes up. Add inflation staying flat and then cut the payroll tax and the result is nominal wages went up.
Of course way more people don't have a job now, and inflation is only flat because BLS is guessing almost half the numbers now.
But you can make really cool graphs telling people they earn more now.
