And the style of music that he plays, reggaeton, has been a massive success in the Latin pop world. It was born in Puerto Rico, spread through the Caribbean, then to Colombia and (I think) Venezuela pretty quickly.
I don't have much love for any form of dance music in general, and I find reggaeton best to be a little monotonous as Latin/Caribbean music goes, but his charisma, talent, and showmanship is undeniable.
