Maybe someone can explain this to me: U.S. downhill skier Lindsey Vonn said that, despite suffering a "ruptured ACL" when she fell during a very recent practice run, she plans to compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics. HOW??? Will she just wear a brace and be just fine, or ?? The knees are incredibly active during skiing, both as up-and-down shock absorbers, and by providing side-to-side stability. Can someone here with a medical or P.T. background explain how she will be able to compete?
