The debate went pretty much as I expected.

Tim Waltz was his regular self, occasionally scoring well but frequently on his heels.

JD Vance was well-composed and well-prepared. This event was tailor-made for his particular skills - it was practically a free forum with little or no fact-checking. At various times, Vance simply ignored the question to focus instead on a preferred topic. He repeatedly returned to his favorite theme - hostility to immigrants and immigration - regardless of the topic (for example, something along the lines of "Illegal immigrants are responsible for the high cost of housing").

The problem is, this forum allowed JD Vance to combine his oratorical skills with Team Trump's favorite weapon: lies.

I never liked him, but I always appreciated that JD Vance is a reasonably intelligent person. Unfortunately, he has no moral compass, and he has become an eloquent advocate for the evil that is Donald Trump.
