He wants you to call him names. You are essentially feeding his ego.
The only truly way to crush him like a bug is to starve him of attention. I don't care if he knows, because he really can't help himself anyway.
Maybe you will eventually figure it out, maybe not. It took me a long time, but I get it now after doing research on his Narcissistic behavior.
Maybe you don't care and want to call him names anyway. Keep in mind insanity is doing the same things over and over again and getting the same result.
