President Donald Trump’s Friday rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, took an intimate turn when he began describing the FBI’s 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago as a literal panty raid.
Trump got onto the subject when he was talking about his efforts this year to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.” He didn’t rename it earlier, he said, because he had “bigger problems to deal with.”
“I had these animals trying to attack me at Mar-a-Lago,” he said, an apparent reference to the FBI’s raid on his Florida resort and home. The agency was executing a search warrant related to its investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents.
“They went into my wife’s closet,” he continued. “And I’ll say this: Number one, it’s very bad, but it sounds a little strange.”
That’s when he mentioned the first lady’s unmentionables.
“They looked at her drawers. You have drawer and then you have drawer,” the president said, emphasizing the word’s double meaning by pantomiming opening a drawer and holding up a pair of underwear. “They looked at both. And she’s a very meticulous person.”
“Everything is perfect,” he went on. “Her undergarments, sometimes referred to as panties, are folded, perfect. Wrapped. They’re like, so perfect. I say, ‘That’s beautiful.’ You know, that’s the part of the world she came from. Everything was perfect, no problem. Fold, fold, fold. I think that she steams them.”
