You are trading white working-class men for African Americans (especially women), Hispanic Americans, and youth. You are bringing in most of the 20% who were double haters onto your side.
You are trading what was likely a 1 out of 4 or at best a 1 out of 3 opportunity with Biden to a coin flip or 60/40 opportunity for Harris.
The race was never going to get to the place where it would be comfortable for Harris. We just don't know who will come out for either candidate with so many new variables such as Dobbs, an African American woman candidate, an unknown candidate, and Trump's pull with his cult.
538 had Biden having a 90% chance of beating Trump in the last election and it was a toss-up. We can get hints of the shape of thee race but IMO we really don't know who will vote.
