(a) Democrats need to double underscore the difficulty and additional burden this bill introduces wrt people who change names. A typical case is married women who change their last names, but that category extends far beyond that.

(b) Democrats *must* organize around making sure that every poor, inner city, eligible voter has a legal ID. Use billionaire donations, knock on their door to organize this process where poor folks can get a copy of their birth certificate and then obtain identification. Do some hand-holding along the way, help pay for the documentation. Do something. Arguing against voter ID is a losing proposition and an extremely lazy way out. Put the f**king work in for once. This will also help build personal connections with voters so you don't have to (i) take your base for granted, and (ii) limit your reach to glossy commercials that air right before an election.

(c) Counter this move by proposing a national ID and national registry for citizens. This needs to happen so that information about people's citizenships are established in a database instead of this weird, 20th century hodgpeodge. Also work towards establishing citizenship ID numbers and cut off the reliance on SSN, which is pathetically archaic.

Stop fighting the fights of the 20th century and begin building for the 21st.
