Amy Suskind in her substack details how back in Feb Musk announced DOGE had fount 7 trillion dollars in treasury payments that were "virtually untraceable" because the TAS codes were not on there. Trump thanked Musk and said from now on TAS codes were required on all payments to increase traceability. Note the money they found was 70 percent of all treasury payments for the year, staggering right?
Last week 2 GOP Senators introduced a bill to make the TAS codes mandatory, and people started to ask didn't Trump do that a month ago when announced? The reality is Trump didn't do anything, and the law is being proposed because what actually happened has leaked and now Republicans are trying to provide cover for Musk.
It turns out the geniuses at DOGE used software to grab the data from the Treasury and some of the TAS codes, most of them actually are too many characters to fit in the column they had for codes! So rather than do what any middle schooler with Excel would do, make the column size bigger, they reported 70 percent of the payments have no TAS code. Most of them did, it just didn't fit in their stupid column size.
Also a bunch of the payments are recurring payments that use a different coding system so surprise, DOGE geniuses marked those as missing codes too.
So their giant revelation that 70 percent of the treasury payments were untraceable was completely false.
