In the we all knew it was crooked but not exactly how angle. The trump plan to allow foreigners to buy citizenship for 5 million dollars. It's anexisting plan he's just greatly increasing the cost. He did this in his first term too but it was blocked by the courts who said he didn't have the legal means to do it and his explanation in court for why he was doing it was clearly not true.
Trump himself made hundreds of millions of dollars off this plan in the past in real estate. As has been reported for years he built condos in NY and apparently Florida that were then bought up by wealthy Russians, what wasn't reported is those Russians were using the "gold card" to get US citizenship, it was lower then and apparently the vetting process allowed for it even with Russian sanctions, so Trump was making huge profits off letting wealthy Russian oligarchs buy citizenship.
When Biden took over they changed the rules so that the Russian sanctions covered this rule. So Trump now wants to again allow Russians to buy citizenship, and he wants to increase the cost to 5 million. Note, as part of this plan, if you're married with kids, they get citizenship too.
So the guy who wants to do away with birthright citizenship, wants to allow Russian oligarchs to just buy their way in. Trump said he personally will be in charge because at the press conference he was asked, what about russians, by a reporter who apparently knew the history, and Trump said yes because there are many GOOD Russians and I will be the one determining it. Which of course means they will be bribing him or his family
