I'm in New Zealand right now feel free.
I didn't say it was Trumps fault I said it wasn't Newsom's fault it has nothing to do with lack of water, the reservoirs are full.
If you want to go there let's, the biggest users of water in the state of California are the Resnicks. Martin is a UCLA grad btw. The Resnicks are one of the biggest donors of... Donald Trump. The reason Trump started talking about the Delta Smelt is because of the Resnicks, I've been posting about it here for years they wanted to get more water from the Delta so they were lobbying to violate state law and keep the pumps open longer.
That was in turn decimating the delta ecosystem, fish populations crashed and the salinity of the water increased. When the pumps are really on they literally reverse the flow of water. Nor Cal groups tried to use environmental laws so then the Resnicks paid for a big campaign to get rid of non native fish, the largemouth bass and striped bass claiming they were eating all the salmon, it wasn't the pumps. Every study had shown the opposite, the problem was the pumps. That led to the fight we're in now where conservationists used the endangered species act. the Delta Smelt is endangered so by state law they HAVE to protect it, and the only way to do that is reduce the pumping.
The Resnicks have been pouring money into this trying to get Trump and others to let them just get around the laws. They even bought the water rights and pumped water right out from under a town, it's basically a dustbowl now.
So yes in a sense Donald Trump is partly to blame for the issues now. Because as he always does he puts his wealthy donors ahead of everyone else. If there's a shortage of water get it from the Resnicks, they literally have a surplus they sell BACK to the water districts every year. Newsom should come in with executive action, declare a state of emergency and require the Resnicks to give up some of that water.
But it's just much easier to blame Newsom
