Yeah I think Cannon is getting paid by someone else. There's a huge network of wealthy conservatives. As always they complain about Soros while they have people actually doing what they accuse Soros of. We see it with Clarence Thomas and others they have absolutely no hesitation in paying to get influence over the courts
