Ya, they've done an amazing job of improving education there.
I'm not saying it's great, or even very good. But, they started in the cellar.
Ya, maybe they can look at the obesity thing next.
I feel like somehow there should be community climate controlled exercise centers. It is an incredibly poor state. I doubt many people can afford a gym membership. And, going outside is a bad option most of the year - though, with global warming that is changing. I just looked at March, not the dead of winter. Before DST, sun sets at 5:40, Temp at 5:30 (after work) is about 60, and you've got a 1/3 chance of it being raining. That's March, not the dead of winter. If you don't have a gym membership, not many people are going to go outside and exercise after work, when it's dark, 60 degrees, and a 1/3 chance of it raining. In the summer it's hot AF. There are a lot of heat advisory days. And, there's a tonnnnn of single parents in that state. So, just bootstrapping people into exercising after work, is going to be tough. Maayyyyybe, if each town had a lighted, climate controlled, free, indoor space to gather in and walk laps, that might help. Maybe.
