Don't get me wrong. Chesney deserves plenty of credit. He's extremely energetic and give an impression of coaching genius (hopefully that will translate into wins on the field).
But, Chesney is also benefiting from exquisite timing. Being in the B1G in 2026 means UCLA is suddenly reaping huge pay-outs. Even with the unfair, arbitrary drag of Kalimony, the revenue level is rivaled by few other franchises. Plus, he can sell recruits on the outstanding media exposure all B1G teams enjoy. Quite a far cry from the pathetic obscurity of the Pac-12 Network.
