I completely disagree with the idea that stability is what this program needs to define the season as a success. "Stability" for UCLA would be a continuation of non-winning season and pushing mediocrity as an acceptable standard. We could have given Chip everything he wanted (which was really to just leave him alone and stop hounding him with calls for raising the bar with higher expectations, and we could have had a very stable program churning out 5-8 wins a year against crappy teams. Rather than maintaining a stable status quo, what this program needs is LOTS and LOTS of disruption in order to put it on an entirely different trajectory from the one it has been on for the majority of the past 30 years.
