Both teams seemed to be over matched against against their oppponents, Ol Miss and Oregon. To my uneducated eye, both don't have the players (size, speed, physicality) to match big boy football conference teams. And I doubt that their level of competition matches what a SEC or Big 10 faces week in and week out.
Maybe mid major conference teams just don't belong in the CFP. Would be interested in seeing some year over year stats on how these "non power four" conference teams fare in the CFP.
