...when Pegan and JMS and Kwazi, etc., were all in the WR room together, the WR coach would have a drill where 4 WRs would run an 18 yard comeback route. (Each WR would have a QB or a GA or whomever time the throw so that the ball was almost on them once they hit their mark and turned back to the ball.)

Pegan and JMS were consistently the 1st WRs to hit the 18 yard mark. It was roughly 50/50.

But I thought Pegan was consistently better than JMS at changing direction. He was better at coming out of the break, and coming back to the ball. Which matters a lot to a QB. A WR who can come back to the ball reduces the risk of an INT from a DB undercutting the route.

Another bonus for Pegan is that he's a pogo stick, with very good body control going up for back shoulder fades. Titus is too small for that role. TMA was best suited as a slot/flanker, but guys like Loya and Flores got that spot, so TMA played X or Z (the outside WRs, mostly used to run go routes to clear out an underneath zone or take the top off the defense, or deep ins/post patterns).

Pegan would be an X or Z (ie, left split end v right split end), like JMS was.
