Ever since Pete Carroll, UCLA has tried to be usc-lite.
We brought in DWalk.
We tried to match the Pom Pom with Neuheisel's Passion Bucket. At different points we hired Norm Chow and Kennedy Polamalu as OC's. We tried to hire Rocky Seto.
We tried to resurrect a former NFL HC in the mold of PC (Mora).
We brought back Ken Norton.
The players who chose us over them were branded as guys who didn't want to compete at sc, who were looking for the easy way.
It all gives off the appearance that we want to be them.
I don't want to be them. I want to be Utah. I want to be ASU. Boise St., Indiana. Something like that.
