I'd be curious to know how long you've been a fan. Look at what you're saying through the eyes of a fan who has been on these boards for decades. When we read things like "Foster is doing an excellent job" and that you think "Davis or Hasselbeck may really bloom" without any real basis for believing so, people are going to roll their eyes. It's almost so over the top that some might confuse it for parody.

I assume you're being genuine, but here's the truth:
we've seen all this before. Glowing reviews of new assistants, encouraging practice reports, tall tales from the weight room. Everyone is working hard and buying in.

But from where I sit, it is not at all clear that we are upgrading the talent in the program vs. just replacing bodies with new, similarly talented bodies. Will the new players and assistants work out? Possibly is the best we can say, but history says No. Fans tend to project a lot of hopes on new guys because no one has seen them miss a tackle or drop a ball yet.

And I think you are not considering the possibility that a big reason UCLA doesn't have a lot of NIL money to give is because Foster has not shown donors anything they see worthy of investing in. Which leads me to the next point.

You say Foster has had "another quality offseason", while ignoring that last offseason he embarrassed the program by having literally nothing to say at Media Day in the program's inaugural season in the B1G. This actually made a bit of national news.

So, I guess to be frank your post about Foster's excellence comes across to many of us like a lot of horse poo.

Best I can say is, Foster avoided the dreaded 2-10 debacle. His retention of Malloe and hiring of Sunseri give some hope. We have a lot of new bodies to replace the ones who went 5-7. We found a QB1. We have a more favorable schedule next year.

But if you're going to come at us talking about how great Foster is doing, you're going to get a few tomatoes thrown your way. Bruingold would probably be a better place for that schtick. I used to call these "X-files" posts, i.e., "I Want to Believe".
