Julien Edelman was a far better athlete than DTR, a much better runner, and much tougher. As QB he was never a great passer and obviously lacked the size, but his last year at Kent State, in addition to throwing for over 1800 yards, he also rushed for 1370 yards and 13 tds. He was faster, quicker, and also posted a 36.5 vertical to DTR's rather pedestrian 32.5.
DTR's 40 time was a hair faster than Curry's at 4.59, but Curry's 20 yard split was over 3 tenths slower and Curry also had a much better vertical, both of which better speak to their athleticism than a straight 40 time. There is absolutely nothing about DTR which suggests he could successfully make the transition to WR. He's relatively slow, not very quick, can't jump, and can't take a hit.
