revenue and the players have Unions. Ownership and the players' union have agreements in place that both sides go by. At least in the NFL, players actually make money on their NIL in endorsements.

I don't know what theoretical business model college football follows. The networks profit, most the universities AD's hemorrhage money, players can leave anytime they want, and you can't pay for play, but you can have a collective to raise money to pay someone to play for you. And somehow, it's all supposed to make sense.
