Oregon overtly embraces, takes pride in, paying top dollar for top players. Morgan Center fought NIL initially and gives it lukewarm support even now. Oregon embraces the professionalization of the sport, Ucla cringes at it. Oregon is vocal and enthusiastic about football, clearly elevating its importance. Ucla wants to “do it the right way” in football which it regards as a necessary evil to fund its cherished money losing “Olympic sports” with which its bureacrats identify.
One program is a football leader, the other, a former leader is now a losing laggard, leaderless, directionless and headed for extinction.
