The OL change may be signalling a bounce off the bottom for the team.

The coaching staff may have corrected its OL gaffe 5 games in. Yoon looks to have arrived at last and now a new balance is apparent along the front 5. Much more athletic and mobile, the new OL may have potential to develop further as the season runs its course and bring the entire team along with it.

The factory setting on this team is still 3 - 9, but the 3 can now be written in black ink instead of #2 pencil.

The Garbs-Martin gap didn't look nearly as wide as media had advertised. New NIL resources should be used to keep Martin here as next year's QB1. Otherwise, he'll be QB1 somewhere else.

TJ's a half step too slow.

D again looked competent but not great. Toia is a rock in the middle, best player we have. Femi looks like a capable edge in the making. CB Kirkland remains a weak link and is among the greatest busts in recent Bruin history.

Expectations can be cautiously raised from routine blowout losses to occasionally competitive results. The loss Saturday feels like a win.
