On one hand, having a historically bad season/team can mean there is an immediate opportunity for new players (high school seniors, transfer portal) to have an impact on field sooner than at bigger and better programs.
But recruiting never stops and just because a recruit has given a verbal it doesn't mean other coaches do not negatively recruit based on many factors including how poor and uninspiring we are on and off the field.
For example, Auburn just flipped Notre Dame's Class of '25 QB Deuce Knight who is rated by ESPN as the second-rated dual-threat qb in his class (4/5 star). We have a dual-threat, 4-star QB in Madden Iamaleava, whose older brother is starring at Tennessee. He may not be as good as his brother, but what if Notre Dame takes an interest in Madden with their QB recruit now flipped?
To date, I do not see an offer or visit from Notre Dame on Madden's recruiting pages, but I would be concerned if they did show an interest.
