sympathetic - as I said. And if you want to make the case to replace the AD, it makes sense to me. But Foster doesn't have the skills? We haven't seen enough to know that. The experience? I'm right with you. And yes, certainly DF - and the AD - should have known that about Bieniemy's system - not a great hire.
But seriously, did anyone really expect we could win a bunch of games this year with the talent on this team?
The arguments about Kelly and his era have all been made - the complaints about his defenses and his lack of recruiting - especially offensive linemen - have been made and made for some time. That's another one on the AD. Foster is guilty of ambition, wanting to replace Kelly and coach his alma mater and thinking he was ready for it. But as a HC this year's team never had a chance.
Simplify the offense all we want but the OLine doesn't have the parts to get the job done. On defense, our previous DC saw the writing on the wall - all of his effective pass rushers and other key defenders were gone so he took an offer to just move across town and he took his one quality DB with him.
I hear your arguments and I respect them. But there are steps to build a winning program. Step one is find the money - build a solid recruiting program with the NIL - and Athletics budget to back it up and allow it to succeed. Step two is the coaching staff. And pay what it takes to stabilize that also.
The key to that is the AD - one with proven experience.
And, yes, the AD must find a HC with experience and a track record behind him.
