Ultimately I see about 30 teams playing a NFL style season trying to keep some historic rivalries, ie Michigan/tOSU, bama/auburn, Red River Rivalry, Texas/A&m, Florida/Georgia, Michigan/Notre Dame, Tennessee/Bama, UCLA/suc, Nebraska/oklahoma, .
I wonder where ucla falls in that equation. I think on the outside right now, unless they need a team for a western region with suc, Oregon, Washington maybe Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma. Maybe one of Utah, one of the zona’s, Colorado or A&M.
The tricky part is how to extricate themselves from the current conferences. For example, Vandy and Indiana don’t deserve automatic seats at the big boy table just because they are members of the conference. In essence, the Pac shed its dead wood when UCLA, SUC, Oregon and Washington went to the 10. Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, need to be examined before getting a golden ticket just because they are members in the 10. Same with Mississippi state, Sourh Carolina, Kentucky (their hoop helps), need to be reviewed. Florida state, Clemson, unc, uva, Utah, Miami, probably deserve admission.
