Someone I knew graduating from UCLA mid 2000s encountered the occasional hotboxed residential suite (Saxon, hitch?) where she lived, known to also be occupied by many from the fb team. Before cannabis was legal.
Cal rowing/rugby was also known to be full of potheads, this stuff happens everywhere.
