I think you are right...Houston.
Per Wikipedia, we lost at Houston, 38-34, to open the season in 2011. I think Houston was playing in an "erector-set"-type stadium before its new, on-campus stadium opened.
I believe Kevin Sumlin was the coach at Houston. What I remember more vividly was a poor coaching performance by Rick Neuheisel, in what would be his last year at UCLA.
