Taking a chance on a guy who has a clearly demonstrated record of coaching success in college is different than just taking a chance on a guy because it "feels good".

Post-Toledo, 3 of the 5 hires have been former UCLA players. None of the 3 had any real interest from schools in major conferences; UCLA was the only place they could be hired. What's even worse now is that UCLA seems to have little to no institutional memory; we just circled back to the Dorrell trap all over again.

Foster will be here two years, three max, unless UCLA decides to totally give up on football and just be content to cash the Big 10 checks, which is possible. I see UCLA going around .500 this year, and then we will drop to 3-4 win seasons.

Then we will stop hiring former players for a while, until the next guy fails, and then we will go back to what feels good again. I bet Jarmond ends up firing 3-4 guys before he finds a soft seat somewhere.
