Enjoyed Kris Johnson's article on Okafor and her Spanish U-18 team which has pretty much dominated the Euro U-18 tournament with incoming UCLA freshman, Okafor, among the team leaders. Entering today's semifinal match with Serbia, Spain had won every game they'd played by 30 or more.
Serbia actually led 19-15 after Q1 but it was all Spain from that point on. They were leading ny 34 in Q4 before they subbed in the lower portion of their bench, still they won easily by 23 iirc. Okafor led scorers with 17 plus, if I heard right, 10 RBs plus 2 assists and 2 steals. She's solid and played a very confident game. (I was also very impressed with Spain's super quick and sure handed PG.)
Spain will, as expected, meet France tomorrow in the championship game (Serbia plays Finland in the third place game). Having Okafor and Gardiner will make a really positive difference for this season's team, opening up the court and giving everyone lots of room to move and maneuver. Very interesting seasons coming up for both men's and women's teams
