I did not see much of him during the Summer League but the games I watched his problems seemed to be conditioning. He averaged 9/7/3 in 23 minutes of action, which are decent numbers. He had a 14/7/6 line in 25 minutes in his last game against Denver. He also had almost 2 blocks a game. So, contrary to the article, he did okay in Summer League.
In the games I saw, he seemed to get tired with the up and down pace. Staying in school is not going to help with that. Being able to work full time with a team's strength and conditioning staff is going to greatly benefit him. Going up against Wemby in practice is not going to hurt either.
