I think Cronin has made some adjustments.
If you look at how he used players like Bilodeau, he essentially gave him the green light offensively. The same goes for Dent. I don't blame Cronin for Dent's offensive struggles. He gave him the freedom to shoot, attack the basket, and create. It's not Cronin's fault that Dent couldn't consistently knock down shots or finish around the rim. Of course, he still wanted him to play under control and limit turnovers, but what coach wouldn't ask that of his players?
In my opinion, Cronin has two main issues. The first is his tendency to occasionally hurt himself with some of his off-the-court comments and antics. The second is his tendency to recruit players who are capable offensive players but not necessarily strong defenders, believing he can develop them into quality defenders. That approach hasn't consistently produced the results he was hoping for.
That's one reason I like this year's team. It feels like he's targeted players who already have a defensive foundation while also having the ability to contribute offensively, particularly as shooters. If he can continue building around that type of player, I think this team has a chance to be very good.
