Some people have suggested Jaxon Kohler as a player we would want. However, like most of these guys, Kohler did not put his name into the transfer portal.

That means that in order for him to come to any school other than Michigan State, several things must happen:

1) A judge must order that he gets another year of eligibility.
2) The judge must also order that he be allowed to transfer.
3) All of this must be upheld on appeal, and perhaps multiple appeals.

What makes all of this a particular mess is that there are many lawsuits and they are being filed in different states. You could get a mishmach of rulings in favor of the players and in favor of the NCAA.

Eventually, this could get settled during an appeals process, but even if players win, the timeline is tight. Full practice starts in less than three months. Admission deadlines are sooner. There isn't a lot of time for rulings, negotiating contracts, and getting admitted to schoool.

On top of that, do you want to bring on a player when they might find their eligibility is overturned on appeal? That could happen just before the season, messing up your planned rotation. It could happen after the season starts, leaving you with games where you played an ineligible player.

It is a massive mess.
