Nikola Kusturica's lottery as of a few hours ago. Back and forth it goes as the latest "word" banters round and round and and up and down. To paraphrase Shakespeare - much ado about what we do not know. Maybe this kid is the real immediate deal or maybe not. But the attention and money being offered to an unknown quantity (at least in terms of how he's going to translate into D1 American college basketball) might look deranged from the outside view.
Let's be clear, I would definitely want to see him at UCLA, but to me he doesn't look, right now, as a fait accompli. The videos I've seen show a player with tremendous skills and abilities, but a player who is somewhat slow afoot and not quite quick and somewhat physically weak. In my experience, lack of strength and speed and quickness can sometimes nullify one's skills and abilities - or at least dampen them. No one really knows how effective this kid will be out of the box. Maybe he's an immediate starter ready player contributing significantly or maybe he will need some time like Mara. And we know how that ended up. I believe there should be a caution sign around all of this.
