I think that’s a very fair assessment, barry. I completely agree with your point about taking a “workmanlike” approach. We’ve got plenty of talent, but that doesn’t mean forcing passes that are not there. If we stick to that disciplined, "workmanlike" style, the cream will rise to the top and our talent will show.
Play within the flow, make the safe pass, take the open jumper, feed the post when it’s there. If it’s not, swing the ball or attack the basket. There’s no need for heroics. Most importantly, get back on defense and crash the boards.
Last night, I felt like we rushed things unnecessarily. Just because the other team wants to push the pace doesn’t mean we have to play that way—make them adjust to us. Slow it down, bring the ball up under control, and get it to Lauren. Lauren, if the double team comes, feel free to kick it out—or keep attacking if it’s there. You handled it well, but that might be tougher against stronger competition.
