I think they really need to do something for him. Even if there's no pain (I expect there is pain) the rough edges constantly attract the tongue and that's a distraction. Plus it's an open wound and I have no idea how long it will take to begin to close off. Pretty sure a dentist can apply something at the very least to seal it off and leave no rough edges. A temporary cap seems like it's something that ought to be doable. - a patent's perspective. Would love to see a dentist/dental surgeon weigh in on this
