Because I'm weirdly obsessed, I compared our defensive numbers today to how well UConn defended Michigan in November . Probably not suuuuper relevant, but I think it's a decent benchmark for how our defense is doing.
The following numbers are Michigan's numbers in the two games.
vs. UCLA - FG% 37%, 3pt% 24%, Mich TO's 9, forced TO margin 4
Reb margin -3
vs. UConn - FG% 36%, 3pt% 38%, Mich TO 's 14, forced TO margin 3, Reb margin -4
To clarify re: "forced TO margin" UConn committed 3 more TO's than Mich did. We committed 4 more TO's than Mich did.
The numbers are super similar across the board. UConn is a little better. But, it should be noted, that the game was a road game for us, and basically a home game for UConn when they played Michigan.
