I tend to agree. As B2BB has said, their D is insane.
My hope is: we are ramping up our intensity with the on ball D. When the opponent picks up their dribble, we’re up on them, trying to deny a pass. I think dugalic is the best at it, not just based on today.
However our turnover margin still doesn’t seem to be where we’d need it to compete with UConn. But we’re working on it.
Maybe if we put Kiki on Fudd, and Dugalic/Jacquez on Strong, we could slow their stars down.
On O, we’ve got 6 players that could carry us. + Sienna is becoming a scorer. We can prove for the good matchup, and go to that. I’d like to see us developing the Sienna/Dugalic thing. They seem to work well together. And I’d like to see us running one of our shooters through multiple screens. Like any of Rice and Kneepkens can score at all three levels. Run one of them off multiple screens. They can then shoot the three or drive once they have the ball. Use Lauren to set a screen, if her defender comes out with her every other player on the team is adept at cutting to the hoop. And, I’d like to see who can actually defend Dugalic. She can post, shoot 3’s, and she can drive pretty well. I’d start out with “how you stopping Angela?”
But this is all happy talk. Texas and SoCaro are damn good teams, and LSU has A punchers chance on any given day. I just hope we make the final and fear we’ll lose to the machine that is UConn.
