It was interesting reading your comments about Roger Staubach, Phil. When I was a freshman in high school, our big star was Steve Bartkowski (then a senior). He was a 3-sport star (basketball, baseball, and football). EVERYone said that baseball was his best sport, and that he'd eventually make a fortune as a Major League Baseball player. (I don't remember what position he played.) We'll never know, though, because he went to Cal to be their quarterback, and then made his fortune as the QB of the Atlanta Falcons for many years.
