This was the UConn plan. They did the same thing. Lauren did a little better against El Alfy, but it was the same thing.
We so have other players that can take it to the hole, Jacquez most of all. But we don’t have any plays to get them to the hole when the opponent is not doubling Lauren. And now that you mention it, why didn’t we lean on Jacquez?
Most of what I’d say in response is in my prior post.
But, ya, Angela gives the opponent a totally different level ok. And I think she’s awesome. And if Sienna plays like that, her too. I’m saying when an opponent thugs it up vs Lauren instead of doubling, putting Angela and Sienna in the floor together looks like a great option. Also, maybe we will learn from this like the Texas game and install some plays to free up the perimeter players, whether for drives or threes, when they aren’t doubling.
Closes comments sound like she is saying that if they don’t double Lauren, we can’t shoot threes. Other teams run plays to free their shooters. We should be able to, too. Hell, have Kauren come out and set picks for Gianna. If Lauren’s defender comes with her then Jacquez can cut to the basket all night.
