coaching Mara. He was asking him to be a complete player. Mara was improving in all aspects of his game.I did think Cronin should have brought him along faster, starting him, and making sure Mara touched the ball on almost every, if not every, possession.
Mara for his part, IMO, was just too impatient. Cronin is a good developmental coach. That takes time and Cronin develops players in the proper way through fundamentals. I think Dusty May is also a good coach, but I don't know how good he is at developing players. I haven't seen a lot of Michigan, but from what I have seen Mara looks pretty much the same as he looked last year. I can only speculate here, but I believe if Mara had stayed he would be getting more than 25 minutes (assuming his conditioning would allow it) and he would probably be more involved in the offense than he is at Michigan.
It's too bad that it played out the way it did. But those kind of things happen in all kinds of relationships across the board. And often in team sports where all kinds of relationships and agendas are at play and often at odds and/or misunderstood.
