We’ve seen this play out with Dent. When you’re rolling and blowing teams out, the confidence builds and momentum carries over. Then you take a loss, and suddenly doubt starts to creep in. Michigan is clearly talented, though, and I expect them to regain their swagger at some point.
On the other hand, there’s Nebraska—wow, are they playing well. That’s a really well-coached group. That said, I do think they may be playing a bit above their ceiling right now. They’re on a roll, and confidence is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. At one point, Lawrence looked unstoppable. His career numbers don’t suggest he’s that level of player, but right now he’s playing at a very high level.
I wouldn’t be surprised if what’s happening to Michigan eventually happens to Nebraska as well, especially coming off this loss.
