given our national emphasis on business and the legal trend, I'm sure I don't know, Phil. The thought of universities hiring proxies to perform in lieu of students I find repellent. If a schools drama or musical department puts on a performance, I would expect it to be performed by students of the university, not hired performers. If a university brags of its Nobel prize winner, I would expect that he or she was on the faculty of that university or at least had been at the time s/he performed the work that won the prize.

And I believe that, however they want to hedge the matter, if a college quarterback throws a touchdown pass he ought to be legitimately a student at the college.

Is his sport his campus job? Sure; that makes sense. I did different jobs while a student at UCLA. I was paid for them - not a lot but they were jobs for which they hired students and I was paid. If it takes a lot more money for some jobs and especially for some of those who perform them, so be it. But hiring proxies in place of students? Another pro league with universities as sponsors or team owners? I don't believe we need that. Already some have posted they've lost interest the way things are now. Going the full way I'm afraid would add me to their number
